Well that was a complete anticlimax. We couldn’t see the bats as it was too dark. Lots of street sellers, skinny dogs and skinny kids. Very poor area - make sure they don’t overcharge you for a beer …Full review by Julia L

I really enjoyed visiting the Bat Caves in Battambang. If you are visiting it should be at the top of your bucket list. Most people go out there to see the bats in the evening. Hiking up the hill is …Full review by happycamperaus1

What address do we enter to drive to these caves via bike? And also what is the name of this bar people have mentioned where you can watch on the roof?? Thanks! :)

You'll find it on Google maps. It's easy to get there via motorbike or tricycle. At the top of the hill there's plenty to see, but the best viewing for the bats is at the bottom. You can't miss the line of resturants all geared up with tables and chairs each evening to watch it. It's an amazing experience!

No entry fee, although you’ll want to sit down in one of the many bars that occupy the street as there’s no exact time the bats will appear and it can take about 45 minutes for them all to leave. So the cost of a drink is about all you’ll have to pay to see the bats from a comfortable place. The mountain the bat cave is located on does also have a killing cave and a temple that’s worth a visit, around $2 to see both. Definitely worth doing if you get there an hour or two before the bats are due to appear but you don’t need to do that to see the bats. Hope this helps.

A time-tuk from central Battambang will be about US$5-10. Depending on how well you negotiate! You can hire a moto but Cambodian roads are not for the faint hearted! Strictly speaking you need a full driving licence - eg an EU licence, not an international one - and a helmet. There are outlets that will allow you to do what you like, but do you trust them? Wearing or not wearing a helmet is not about a fashion statement or some sort of Macho rejection of the rules, but an absolute necessity in a country where you should not expect perfect road manners and need to be fully aware of what’s going on around you, especially as you’ll be heading back into town in the dark! Speak to Pheara at Ganesha Guesthouse on street 1.5, she or her team will sort you out.
