Tens of thousands of people rallied across Illinois Saturday in organized protests against the Trump administration. Our Revolution activist James Rodriguez said groups in over 2,000 cities around the country were standing up to President Donald Trump.
Similar protests are set to kick off in more than 1,000 cities across the country on Saturday. The rallies are intended to counter the military parade President Donald Trump has planned to mark the U.
Several of the protests appeared to be family events, with lawn chairs, flags, dogs and kids. The Missouri National Guard were not reported at the rallies.
The “No Kings” protest in Cape Girardeau took place at Freedom Corner in Capaha Park. Several hundred people lined the sidewalks on Broadway and West End Boulevard. Indivisible SEMO helped organize the protest in Cape Girardeau. Leaders say they are protesting against “increasing authoritarian excesses and corruption from Trump and his allies.”
ICE demonstrations have been peaceful, a few have led to clashes with police and hundreds of protesters have been arrested.
