The formula of one chief minister and two deputy CMs representing the three major 'Mahayuti' constituents, will be followed in the new government in the state.

Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Shirsat on Wednesday said that Eknath Shinde will not take the Deputy Chief Minister's post in Maharashtra. This comes after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) insisted on Devendra Fadnavis becoming the CM. Shinde had resigned as CM on Tuesday, tendering his resignation to Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan.

Eknath Shinde, the second contender for the post of the Chief Minister in Maharashtra, capitulated four days after the election results came in, saying he has left the decision to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
