The shooting death of Ole Miss freshman Corey Adams has rocked the tight-knit college football community, as the 18-year-old "didn't get to see his dream" fully realized, devastated mourners told Newsweek.

Corey Adams, a defensive end for Ole Miss, died in Cordova, according to an announcement from the program and the Shelby County Sheriff's Office.

Ole Miss announced the death of freshman Corey Adams on social media on July 20. According to a tweet on X (formerly Twitter) from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, Adams, 18, was a homicide victim. According to the police, around 10:14 p.m. on July 19, a shooting occurred outside a residence on Fern Glade Cove in Cordova, Tennessee.
