The Philadelphia 76ers suffered another blow in the 2024-25 season when they lost not only the contest to the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday, but also Paul George to an injury. George left early in the third quarter after landing awkwardly on his left leg and ended up not returning.

George injured his knee when Memphis’ Desmond Bane inadvertently landed on George’s foot while both went for a rebound. It's the same knee injury that kept him out to start the season.

Joel Embiid led the Sixers with 35 points and 11 rebounds, but Philadelphia lost its fifth straight. Rookie Jared McCain finished with 20 points, while Guerschon Yabusele added 17 points. Memphis, which led 115-100 with 3:15 left, had to withstand a late Philadelphia rally to capture the victory.
