The head of one of the largest U.S. teachers' unions said she "felt out of step" with DNC Chair Ken Martin's leadership.

Randi Weingarten of the American Federation of Teachers and Lee Saunders of AFSCME, declined offers to stay on. Weingarten cited disagreements with Martin.

Randi Weingarten told DNC chair Ken Martin, in a letter obtained by several news outlets, that she was declining the offer to be reappointed as an at-large member of the committee, a role she has held since 2002.

States along the US-Canada border have seen steep drops in tourism, so they’re rolling out deals aimed at wooing back visitors. Some are offering special pricing to Canadians to offset the strong dollar.
