Tampa police have arrested a man accused of intentionally driving his pickup truck into a financial building in Tampa Palms North. Robert Beaty, 70, of Tampa arrived at the guard gate demanding to speak with a USAA representative Tuesday afternoon, investigators said.

A man was arrested Tuesday after intentionally crashing his truck into the USAA building, according to Tampa police.

Just after 2 p.m. Tuesday, the Tampa Police Department responded to reports of a car that crashed into the USAA located off of Commerce Park Boulevard.

A 70-year-old man was arrested after police said he intentionally crashed his car into the USAA building in Tampa on Tuesday.

TAMPA, Fla. - A 70-year-old man is facing multiple felony charges after police say he deliberately crashed his truck into the USAA building in Tampa on Tuesday. Robert Beaty was arrested after allegedly driving recklessly through the USAA parking garage,

“The investigation revealed that Beaty arrived at the guard gate demanding to speak with a USAA representative. Guards refused entry to Beaty. In turn, Beaty put on a helmet, drove recklessly through the USAA parking garage, and damaged numerous fences inside the property.”

The Tampa Police Department responded to USAA, located at 17200 Commerce Park Boulevard in Tampa at around 2:12 p.m. Officers immediately detained the driver after finding the red Chevrolet Silverado on the third floor of the parking garage. The driver was not injured during the incident.

At approximately 2:12 p.m., on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, Tampa Police responded to an incident at the USAA building located at 17200 Commerce Park Boulevard involving a vehicle crash inside the structure.

Robert Beaty, 70, was denied entry to the building when he arrived at around 2:12 p.m. and demanded to speak to a USAA representative.
