An engine fire reported on a United Airlines plane just after it took off from Los Angeles International Airport Monday forced the pilots to turn around and make an emergency landing.

A United Airlines flight landed safely Monday morning at LAX after it was evacuated over reports of an engine fire, the Los Angeles Fire Department said. A live camera view showed the aircraft on the airfield as smoke was reportedly seen near one of its engines. The aircraft was headed to Newark, New Jersey but was forced to return to LAX.
