Amaran actor Sivakarthikeyan showered praise on Vijay Sethupathi's Maharaja. He congratulated the film's team ahead of its theatrical release in China.

Tamil movie "Maharaja", the first Indian film to be released in China after the last month’s accord to normalise ties between the two countries ending the standoff in eastern Ladakh, has earned around Rs 16 crore on the first day of its release on Friday.

Ahead of its official release, Sethupathi's 50th film Maharaja held limited previews in China. The film's gripping narrative and Vijay Sethupathi's powerful performance struck a chord with Chinese audiences. Fans are raving about the film’s intense climax, which is said to leave a lasting impression.

Nithilan Saminathan’s Vijay Sethupathi, Anurag Kashyap, Abhirami and Mamta Mohandas-starrer Maharaja was released in June to rave reviews in India. The film has now been released in China and earned ₹19.
