Trump made his comments en route to South Korea, where he will meet Wednesday with the country’s president and other Asian political and business leaders. The next day he will host the most important meeting of his weeklong Asian swing, with Chinese leader Xi Jinping at Busan’s international airport.

President Trump landed on Wednesday in South Korea, where world leaders were gathering for an Asia-Pacific economic forum in the city of Gyeongju.

The president made the statement begrudgingly, and seemed to still hold out some hope that some way that he could stay in office beyond the end of his term in January 2029.
