President Donald Trump's FY2026 budget included some drastic changes to HUD's rental assistance program known as Section 8. Is it ending under the bill?

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - For the first time in four years, New Rochelle has opened its Section 8 waiting list. Eligible applicants can apply online until Monday, June 17, at 4 p.m.

The application period runs from 9 a.m. Tuesday, July 19 through 4 p.m. Thursday, July 21. The interest list will randomly select 250 applicants for the voucher lottery.

The Hialeah Section 8 voucher program is still open. Those who do not have access to a computer or internet and wish to go to the John F. Kennedy Library, have until Friday April 26th to do it.
