If Democrats want to become a reasonable party in the future, they will have to learn how to listen to their voters — and to each other.

Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson suggested that his move to leave the Democratic Party last fall should have served as an early warning that a political reckoning was coming for the party of his youth. Many political pundits were stunned when President-elect Donald Trump led Republicans to sweeping wins earlier this month,

“Suggestion for the Democrats: go meet some Trump voters, and also some non-voters, and listen to what they have to say. Really listen. It may take a while. Only then will you be able to come up with a game plan to win voters back.” – Michael, Concord

Democrats will soon have a leadership vacuum, and there will be no shortage of highly ambitious governors, senators and transportation secretaries looking to fill it.
