German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has arrived in Kiev for the first time in two and a half years for talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in a visit which had not been previously announced for security reasons.

If anyone still required proof that Olaf Scholz is not a "level-headed peace chancellor,” as he tried to cast himself during Germany’s election campaign, but an aggressive war chancellor, his surprise visit to Kiev Monday morning provided it.
