MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) — Alexander Zverev reached his third Australian Open semifinal with a 7-6 (1), 7-6 (0), 2-6, 6-1 win over 12th-seeded Tommy Paul of the United States on Tuesday. The No. 2-ranked Zverev had to save a set point in each of the first two sets but then dominated both tiebreakers.

Alexander Zverev played his best tennis when it mattered most to down Tommy Paul 7-6(1) 7-6(0) 2-6 6-1 on Tuesday and reach his third Australian Open semi-final in five years, keeping alive his dream of finally landing a Grand Slam title.

Tommy Paul's run at the 2025 Australian Open ended against Alexander Zverev in the quarterfinals. The American ace played a really good tournament and did not go far from accomplishing the feat that would have propelled him into the semifinals at Melbourne Park for the second time in his career.

Zverev, who will play in his third Aussie Open semi, lost serve at 5-5 in the first set and sat a game from falling behind 1-0. But he fought back to survive a set point and broke the 27-year-old Paul before rolling in the tiebreaker.
