Another GigE port goes to a router, which is where I actually need to have the VLANs terminate (we're going through the switch as we're out of ports on the router).

Does work with Netgears and some others, though. I have got the (tagged) trunking working successfully between the Procurve 2510G and Cisco SG300 switches.
