PS: Also, take a look at TreeComp, BestSync, and SeaFile. What replaced SyncToy? Several alternatives offer similar functionalities for file synchronization and file backup.
SyncToy always worked flawlessly under XP, so I'm at a loss. I know enough about permissions in Win7 to be dangerous, but apparently not enough to troubleshoot this current problem adequately.
