Officials including Gov. Josh Stein and Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles mourn the American Eagle flight crew from Charlotte who died in Washington D.C.

A flight crew from Charlotte was onboard a plane that collided with a military Black Hawk helicopter over the Potomac River by Washington, D.C., according to multiple media reports and at least one crew member’s family.. A total of 67 people died — 60 passengers, four crew members on the commercial plane and three people on the military chopper.

CBS reported that the crew of the commercial American Eagle jet was Charlotte-based. Debi Epstein, the former wife of flight attendant Ian Epstein, confirmed that he was killed in the air collision between the jet and a military helicopter.

American Airlines CEO Robert Isom released a third statement Thursday following the crash of American Eagle Flight 5342, saying the AA family was devastated and hurting but focusing on taking care of the victims' families.

As one nation, we grieve for every precious soul that has been taken from us so suddenly,” Trump said at a press briefing Thursday. “Sadly, there are no survivors."

The American Airlines’ subsidiary has ties that go back decades in Ohio, and just said it was moving its headquarters to Charlotte.

“A PSA Airlines Bombardier CRJ700 regional jet collided in midair with a Sikorsky H-60 helicopter while on approach to Runway 33 at Reagan Washington National Airport around 9 p.m. local time,” the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said in a statement.
