Cruise lines are adjusting operations as Tropical Cyclone Alfred approaches Queensland, Australia. Carnival Cruise Line’s Carnival Luminosa ship will be delayed returning to Brisbane, the cruise line told USA TODAY.

Tropical Cyclone Alfred is expected to make landfall in Brisbane on late Friday or early Saturday, causing several ships from Carnival, Royal Caribbean and others to stay far from the area until the storm passes.

Royal Caribbean will move Vision of the Seas cruises from Baltimore to Fort Lauderdale next year but will continue offering sailings from Baltimore through 2026.

Carnival, on the other hand, doesn’t use the same strategy. Its newest and largest ships are the Excel Class, which include Mardi Gras, Carnival Celebration, and Carnival Jubilee, and all three exclusively sail longer itineraries. The same can even be said about the cruise line’s previous class of ships.
