A man who stole more than £8,000 of computer equipment from schools across Coventry has been jailed. Darren Reid, 50, was jailed for two years and eight months at Warwick Crown Court on Thursday after pleading guilty to burglary, handling stolen goods and possession of a Class B drug.

A man has been taken to hospital after a lorry overturned in Birmingham. West Midlands Ambulance Service said it was called to the junction of Great Barr Street and the A4540 at Garrison Circus at about 11:40 GMT and arrived to find the lorry on its side.

A man has been charged with attempted murder after two people were injured last summer. West Midlands Police said Jordan Edwards, 31, from Birmingham, was also charged with possession of firearms with intent to endanger life and possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply.

A teenage boy has been arrested after a car crashed into a wall in Smethwick. Two men, 18 and 19, were taken to hospital after the crash at the junction of Booth Street and Anne Road just before 19:30 GMT on Sunday. Their injuries were not believed to be life threatening.

A pedestrian was killed after being hit by a car on a motorway. The man was struck on the southbound carriageway of the M42, between junctions 4, the Monkspath Interchange, and 3a Umberslade Interchange, at 23.09 GMT, on Sunday, West Midlands Ambulance Service said. He was confirmed dead at the scene, the service said.

Four more men have been arrested over the death of a man who was fatally shot inside a car in Birmingham. Raad Asamel, 27, was pronounced dead at the scene on Rotton Park Road at the junction of City Road in Edgbaston, just before 23:00 GMT on 22 November.

A man has been arrested in connection with the attempted abduction of a three-year-old girl in Wolverhampton. West Midlands Police received reports that a man tried to pick up and take the girl while she was outside a house on Leicester Street at about 17:15 GMT on Thursday.

A man in his 30s sustained life-threatening injuries when a car hit a wall following a police pursuit in Birmingham, the West Midlands force has said. The Honda Civic in which he was travelling crashed into vehicles and then into a wall on Lionel Street, at the junction with Newhall Street, at about 14:50 GMT on Sunday.
