A new study by Microsoft Research (MSR) has analyzed 200,000 conversations between users from various walks of life and Microsoft Bing Copilot, which revealed some interesting findings. This study claims that some occupations are unlikely to be impacted much by generative AI.

As you can see, most of the jobs here are so-called “knowledge economy” jobs—careers that involve learning about, analyzing, and communicating specialized information. On the other hand, the jobs that don’t have much AI applicability are decidedly more blue-collar. They are as follows:

It’s been like this across many IT sectors for as long as anyone can remember. Arguably, then, AI won’t reduce demand so much as change the skills needed. The ability to automate job tasks using AI will not end up being the enemy of tech jobs but essential to their future.
