The Illinois Conservation Police, along with the Chicago Police Department, spoke with witnesses, reviewed video, and found the coyote's carcass after it had been shot on the railroad tracks with a bow and then stomped.

Investigators with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources said the attack happened along railroad tracks near 106th and Sacramento on Jan. 11. A spokesperson for IDNR said four teens were arrested and face a variety of charges.

The incident happened just before 4 p.m. on Jan. 11 in the 10600 block of South Sacramento Avenue. The animal was found dead on private property and was removed.

Four Chicago teens have been charged with conservation-related violations in the killing of a coyote earlier this month near the Mount Greenwood neighborhood, according to a statement from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.
