NUUK, Greenland (AP) — Troops from several European countries continued to arrive in Greenland on Thursday in a show of support for Denmark as talks among representatives of Denmark, Greenland and the U.S. highlighted “fundamental disagreement” over the future of the Arctic island.

The European Union can help provide security for Greenland, should Denmark request it, the European Commissioner for Defence and Space said, warning that a U.S. military takeover of the island would be the end of NATO.

As NATO prepares for war games around Greenland, Russia is highlighting the Trump administration's disagreement with its closest allies over the island.
