The Justice Department on Monday defended prosecuting Jeffrey Epstein’s madam Ghislaine Maxwell — as US Attorney General Pam Bondi faces a brewing firestorm over files related to the notorious pedophile.
Maxwell submitted a plea to to overturn her conviction, saying she was covered by a non-prosecution deal made between Jeffrey Epstein and the U.S. government.
Asked if his client could potentially receive a pardon, Maxwell's lawyer said: "the President this morning said he had the power to do so, we hope he exercises that power in the right and just way."
