Meteorologists attributed last month’s above-normal temperatures to a lack of strong western disturbances over the country’s northwest plains.

This warming trend has continued since the post-monsoon season in October and could contribute to making 2024 the warmest year ever on record, globally.

The record warmth was accompanied by a lack of rain, with only 1.81 inches falling. It also helped make 2024 the warmest year on record to date.

Through November, Chicago has seen an average temperature of 57 degrees, breaking the year-to-date record set in 1921 with an average temperature of 56.4 degrees.
