WASHINGTON -- WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump’s top Cabinet officials overseeing national security are expected back on Capitol Hill on Tuesday as questions mount over the swift escalation of U.S. military force and deadly boat strikes in international waters near Venezuela.

WASHINGTON — Former special counsel Jack Smith told lawmakers on Capitol Hill that President Donald Trump himself is responsible for the criminal indictments against him relating to the Jan. 6 insurrection and his possession of classified documents.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), asked by a CNN reporter about Trump’s remarks on Wednesday, defended his tone, saying Trump was "expressing his frustration about the extraordinary challenge that is presented to America when you have people coming in, not assimilating, and trying to take over the country."
