The South Rim Fire has burned more than 3,600 acres uncontained since sparking Thursday along the canyon's rim as of Sunday night, and officials Sunday said the fire had started spreading into the canyon itself.

A rapidly growing fire near the Grand Canyon has expanded nearly 20 times in size over the last 24 hours.

Approximately 50 to 80 structures have been lost, including the National Park Service administrative buildings and visitor facilities.
