While a curve back out to sea is widely expected and forecast in models, any impacts Erin could have on Florida and the U.S. remains uncertain.

Tropical Storm Erin, currently over the central Atlantic, is expected to become the first major hurricane of the 2025 season by the weekend.

The hatched areas on the National Hurricane Center's tropical outlook map indicate "areas where a tropical cyclone — which could be a tropical depression, tropical storm or hurricane — could develop," said National Hurricane Center Deputy Director Jamie Rhome.
