Ubisoft Leamington was previously known as FreeStyleGames – the studio behind the DJ Hero series – before it was acquired by Ubisoft from Activision in 2017. It has since worked mainly as a support studio on games such as Far Cry 5, Avatar, and Star Wars Outlaws.

The challenging times at Ubisoft continue, as the French gaming company has announced it is closing one studio and downsizing others in the firm's latest round of cost-cutting that will see about 185 people lose their jobs. Ubisoft underwent multiple waves of layoffs in 2024 as well.

The layoffs will see Ubisoft Leamington shuttered. Previously known for the DJ Hero series, Leamington has been more of a support studio lately, assisting with development of Star Wars Outlaws and the Far Cry series. The reductions also impact Ubisoft Stockholm, Ubisoft Reflections, and Ubisoft Düsseldorf.

A small number of staff who worked at the studio based at the Imperial House offices in Holly Walk, will be retained under remote contracts. Additionally, Ubisoft offices in Düsseldor , Stockholm and the Newcastle-based Ubisoft Reflections will be downsized.
