The Witch of Yazoo is a legendary character from Willie Morris' 1971 book Good Old Boy. The legend goes that an old woman lived on the Yazoo River and was caught torturing fishermen who she lured in off the river. It was rumored that on stormy nights, she would lure fishermen into her house, poison them with arsenic, and bury them on a nearby hill.
