Marie Curie (1867–1934) was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize, the first person to win two Nobel Prizes, and the only person to win in both Physics and Chemistry. She earned a doctorate in France and, with her husband Pierre Curie, discovered polonium and radium, naming polonium after Poland. She shared the 1903 Nobel Prize in Physics with Pierre Curie and Henri Becquerel and won the 1911 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for isolating radium and polonium.
