One of the hardest parts of volunteering at the shelter is that moment when playtime ends. You take a sweet dog out for a walk, some zoomies in the yard, or just cuddles and belly rubs... and their whole world lights up. Tails wagging like crazy, eyes bright, soaking up every second of freedom and love. Then comes the walk back to the kennel. They slow down. They plant their feet. They look up at you with those big, pleading eyes like they're saying, "Please, not back in there." Some even try to
