Not only is it #TurtleTuesday—it’s also National Reptile Awareness Day! 🐢🦎🐍🐊 Reptiles are generally classified as ectothermic, or cold-blooded, animals that have the ability to lay eggs. Within the Reptilia class are four orders: Crocodilia (crocodiles, alligators, caimans), Squamata (lizards, snakes, amphisbaenians), Rhynchocephalia (tuataras), and of course, Testudines (turtles). Turtles are the only reptiles that have an outer shell. The top of the shell is known as the carapace, and the
