Here I am departing the The Academy Awards in 1953. The first #Oscars broadcast on television, and the first broadcast from Los Angeles (at the Hollywood Pantages Theatre) and New York simultaneously. I performed on the show the following year. All the men that I had the privilege of dancing with on stage, in films & on TV, were not only amazing artists, but also skilled, disciplined, athletes. Many faced incredible obstacles, & uninformed ridicule to do what they were meant to do. It’s incomprehensible this still happens today. It must stop. Dance is art, dance is sport, and art is life.
